Maryam Person My name is Maryam Person and it would be my pleasure to work with your family. As a mother of a toddler I can say I LOVE working with young children. I have spent the last 8 years working with children from ages birth to three and their families. I earned a BA in Psychology with a minor in Child Development as well as having my Infant/Toddler Specialist Certification. And I’m currently earning credits to get my Masters as a Speech and Language Pathologist. While earning my BA I spent my last 2 years volunteering with Pitt Memorial Child Life program where I was trained by a Child Life Specialist for care and development of preemies and medically fragile babies. During my training, I spent my time in the NICU working one on one with preemies. I understand the care that's needed once a preemie comes home from the hospital and what to expect as far as development. After graduation, I was a 2 year old teacher for an inclusive classroom where I worked with typical developing and special needs children. While working as a Developmental Specialist, I have worked with all types of diagnosis such as unspecified developmentally delays, neurological disorders, cognitive impairment, autism, sensory integration, agenesis of the corpus collusum, hydrocephalus, and behavioral concerns. I structure each child's day based off of their individualized goals from their IFSP.

The last 5 years, I have been working in the Early Intervention field where I obtained my Infant/Toddler Certification while working with children with developmental delays and/or established medical conditions in different settings. I have gained more knowledge about premature infants by attending training such as Beyond the NICU: Serving Families with Premature Infants, Issues and Challenges of Children with Feeding issues and other trainings related to the care and need of premature infants. I have attended other trainings such as Applied Behavior Analysis and Infant massage training. My area of expertise includes premature babies and the more medically fragile babies such as babies being on G-tube, having heart surgery and colostomies. Also working with children that has cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, gross motor and speech delays, cleft palate, neonatal stroke and seizures, IVH, fine motor delays, SGA/IUGR, vision impairment, cranial-facial diagnosis and the use of adaptive equipment.

I understand that each child and family is unique, and will work hard to take the strength of the child and family to help support the child's need in a fun and playful environment. Together we will work to reach your child's maximum potential. I look forward to working with your child and family.
